World Teachers’ Day — October 5, 2022
#TeachersCan joins the United Nations Education Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to celebrate World Teachers’ Day.
Texas teachers continue to adapt to a new normal. They stay relentlessly optimistic. They continue to persevere under even the most difficult of times. They continue to prioritize their students, and are teaching all of us in meaningful ways.
On this year’s World Teachers’ Day, we will once again shine the light on these dedicated professionals by showing how #TeachersCan Light The Way Forward.
Texans showed the world just how much we care about our teachers by lighting up prominent buildings throughout the state and tying blue ribbons around trees throughout neighborhoods and school campuses across Texas – all in honor of teachers.
And, this year, we invite everyone – teachers, students, educators, supporters – to participate and can show their support in various ways.
Did you know?
The color blue holds special meaning for the #TeachersCan movement. In higher education, a light blue stole represents a degree in education. #TeachersCan pays tribute to the dedication of these scholars and educators by making light blue integral to campaign design elements.
Illuminate Your Building
On Wednesday, October 5th, we would like to see as many iconic buildings as possible illuminated in light blue as a way to show our appreciation for our teachers who continue to be that bright, guiding light for our students during this dim and challenging time. Contact us to add your building to the list.

Display a Light Blue Ribbon
During the week of October 5, display a light blue ribbon outside your house or school to show your support of teachers. This is an easy way for you to say thanks to teachers in your community when they need our support the most. #TeachersCan branded ribbon is available for purchase here.
